Yuhanon Mor Meletius was born on 4th July 1954, the first-born child of M.J. Markose, a farmer and a social worker, and Saramma Markose in Ezhakaranad, Ernakulam district, Kerala.
As I was browsing through the net I happened to find this old news paper report on my talk at United Theological College's (Bangalore) Centenary Celebration in July 2010. I had posted my presentations then itself in this forum (addresses are given below). Here is the news paper cutting (Thanks to The Orthodox Herald and Mr. Liju Cherian, Muscat, the reporter)
I had to say sel baslomo aho dil (go in peace my brother) to H.G. Paulose Mar Pachomius of blessed memory of Mavelikkara diocese on 2nd of August 2012 who left for eternal rest on 1st of August 2012 and was entombed at Bathany Asram chapel at Ranni-Perunad, Pathanamthitta. Video.
This date, Jan 30th, 39 years back I became a deacon. H.G. Paulose Mar Philexinos Metropolitan who later bacame H.B. Baselius Paulose II Catholicos of the Patriarch faction of Malankara Orthodox Church, ordained me a koruyo (reader) at St. Mary's Church, Vettithara, my home parish. This was day before my home Church, renevated, was consecrated with Holy Mooron by Their Graces Paulose Mar Philexinos Metropolitan, Yuhanona Mar Severios Metropolitan (Kochi diocese) and Philipose Mar Theophilos Metropolitan (Angamali diocese).
I visited Burbank Mission of Malankara Orthodox Church on which I am in charge and they accorded a warm welcome at the Church. The Scout and Guide unit of the Church gave a guard of honor and prepared a cake tocommemorate my sacerdotal silver Jubilee. Few pictures:
On this day (2011 May 23rd), twenty five years back I became a priest of the Malankara Church. As some of you may know I am not a person of celebrations. So I quietly spend my day with my relatives and friends in Toronto, Canada (Canada celebrated this day with much enthusiasm and fireworks.. guess why?). I am grateful to God for taking me, from a remote village in Ernakulam district, of Kerala, India this far. I also thank all those thousands of people who loved me from all over the world and helped me become what I am today.
