Light Moments

I was St. George Orthodox Syrian Valiyapally, Puthupadi, Calicut for the inauguration of the last phase of its Jubilee celebrations. I stood at the eastern porch of the Church viewing the beautiful sight of the sun coming out of the hills of Wayanadu.

Theological Seminary. On the first day of the H. Synod I went to the Sophia in my car by there was water on the road. To come back on the following morning, I had to take a bus as the water was still high on the road. A video of the scene.

We, many of the Metropolitans are staying at Sophia Center, guest house of Orthodox Theological seminary, Kottayam, during the days of the Holy Episcopal Synod from Aug. 5 till 10. The continuous rain brought water in to the dams and they had to open the shutters to let extra water out not to cause damage to the dam. It flooded the Meenachil River on the bank of which the O T Seminary is situated. We could not take our cars out to go to Catholicate Palace the venue of the H. Synod as the road leading to Chungam was drowned to knee deep water. So we had to commute on a bus.

A Video is uploaded to my Youtube channel on a Coffee session after the Sunday Service at St. James Orthodox Church, Sunland under my care.

I watched the Broadway Play "Lucky Guy" with Mr. Shibu Abraham and family. It was the first time  Tom Hanks, my favorite Hollywood actor, in Broadway theater.

Lucky Guy is a new play about the scandal - and graffiti - ridden New York of the 1980s, as told through the story of the charismatic and controversial tabloid columnist Mike McAlary.

Part of my garden during the beginning of summer before I left for North American tour:

December 10th is Human Rights Day.

Human Rights Day

I am currently in up state New York (they call it Rockland. I do not see any rock here. Oh those Americans, they drive car on park way where you are supposed to be parking and park on drive ways where you are supposed to be driving. They call hand ball football and football saucer and many other confusing things). The media says "you have to get ready to receive Sandy and have as much as candles you can have". Usually bishops like me are welcomed with candles.

Here is a clip from the Malayalam movie Manasinakkare produced by Subair and directed by Sathyan Anthikkadu. Video courtesy: Harmony Videos.

This helps me look seriously in to my own sermons. Watch this:

They say Amherstia nobilis (Malayalam Simsipa flower) is the pride of Burma (Myanmar). It is said when Sita wife of Rama was taken to Lanka, she was seen sitting under this tree surrounded by Rakshasis (evil women. Of course for the Aryans those Dravidians were monkeys and those in Sri Lanka were Rakshasa and Rakshasi). It is a rare tree the flowers of which are really beautiful.

There was a news report about the plant in Mathrubhumi daily.
